"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord" – 2nd Peter 2

Are we still under the Old Testament Law?

So what is the truth about the Law, are we still under the Law, or not? This is a great question! Won't you come with me as we search the scriptures to shed light on what God's word says about the Law, and how it applies to us. It will dramatically change your life as it has mine. This may become a complete shock to you as a believer. Make sure you are sitting down because I want to tell you that we are longer under the Law, but Grace.

Christianity as a whole has embraced the Old Testament Law. Most Christians today have never thought that the Law was not intended for them. Do you know that the majority of the churches today embrace the Law as means of trying to get people to become more holy? 1st Corinthians 15:56 says, the sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. How are we strengthening sin? In this scripture, it's by preaching and embracing the Old Testament Law. The majority of God's people are sitting in churches, under leaders who are beating them up with the Law, believing that it will cause people to become less carnal. It is hogwash! They are deceived! This scripture here says it will cause them to sin more. Sadly, today they are also using the Law as a fear tactic to scare people into doing right; which will never cause people to do right. Romans 2:4 say, "It is the goodness of God that leads you to repentance." Anyone who is using the Law as means of justification is absolutely wrong in doing so. It was never intended for the churches of this day to use the Law as means to get people to straighten out their lives; it was meant to lead people to Christ. The Old Testament should not be rejected, as it is God's Holy word. As it says in 2nd Timothy 3:16 says, "it's profitable for doctrine, reproof and so on, but needs to be interpreted in light of the New Covenant.

Here are some awesome scriptures to back up the truth I am revealing to you. In Galatians 3:13 says, Jesus has set us free from the curse of the Law. The truth is He has also set us free from the Law itself. Romans 6:14 says "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under Law but under Grace." Romans 7:4-6 says, " Therefore my brethren, you also have become dead to the Law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear much fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the Law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. But now we have been delivered from the Law having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. The oldness of the letter is the LAW. Does it not say that we are delivered totally? YES! Then why are we sitting under it? Living under the command of the Old Testament Law is a return to bondage, a misunderstanding of our New Covenant in Jesus.

How much clearer can it be when it says, in 1st Timothy 1:9 knowing this that the law is not made for a RIGHTEOUSNESS PERSON, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy etc. Yet today in the majority of the churches they are using the law to beat people up, make them feel condemned, when it says in Romans 8:1 there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Church, it is time to wake up! If you are sitting under such teachings, and always feeling guilty, condemned, unworthy, never feeling you will ever be accepted by God, I suggest you seek a church that builds you up in the love of Christ. It was never God's purpose to use the law as means of producing justification. Only Faith in the sacrificial death of a Savior was God's plan of redemption & justification all along.

Let me give you more scriptures that will further shed light on this truth: that we are no longer under the Law. Romans 3:20, 28 says, therefore by the deeds of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the Law is the knowledge of sin. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the Law. Galatians 2:16 says, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; for by the works of the Law no flesh shall be justified. Galatians 3:11 says, But that no one is justified by the Law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by Law; you have fallen from grace. Look at all these scriptures that I have presented to you, and Galatians 5:4 plainly says that you have fallen from grace if you are using the Law for justification. The Jew of this day, like many church people of our day, thought the Law was given to earn our salvation through keeping it. Religions of the world teach that the burden of salvation is upon our own shoulders, and enforcing it by preaching the Old Testament Law. Saints! This wasn't Gods intent!

This was the purpose of the law: to kill, condemn, strengthen sin (1st Corinthians 15:56), make sin come alive (Romans 7:9) work all manor of lust in us. Let's read 2nd Corinthians 3:7-9 but if the ministry of death written and engraved on stones (Ten Commandments) was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more glory. It is saying clearly that the ministry of condemnation has passed away. The law does not apply to our walk with God today. 1st Timothy 1:8-10 says, "but we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully, knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man." The law is God's way of revealing to men his need for a Savior, that He can't do it on his own. This is the only reason the law should be used, not for the believer also. The law strengthens our enemy... sin, NOT US!

Galatians 3:19-25 what purpose then does the Law serve? It was added (temporary) because of transgressions, till the seed (Jesus Christ) should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. Is the Law then against the promise of God? Certainly Not! For if there had been a Law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the Law. But the Scripture has confined all under sin that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But before faith (Jesus Christ) came, we were kept under guard by the Law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the Law was a tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith (Jesus Christ) has come, WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER A TUTOR (the Law).

James 2:10 says for whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. If someone is preaching the law to you, I want you to ask them, are you keeping the whole law? The truth is they can't tell you yes, yet they are telling you that you need to keep it. Are they not guilty also? It says, in Romans 3:23 says, "We all fall short of the glory of God."

Titus 2:11
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men

NOT THE LAW!
