Our Position in Christ

Paul's letter to the Ephesians Church is full of some of the most wonderful revelations about the believer's union with Christ found anywhere in scripture. Chapters' 1-3 deals with our position and our calling in Christ. Chapters' 4-6 deals with practical speaking of our lives in the world, which demands a conduct inspired through the new calling of Grace. Paul is praising God for all the spiritual blessings we already have in Jesus Christ. True Christianity does not begin by doing; it begins with what has already been done. Our position in Christ is to know who we are in the spirit now. The first three chapters of Ephesians, is not talking about something that is going to happen in our lives. It is revealing past tense revelations, that there was a point and time in the past were these blessings were obtained and given to us. These are not blessing to be sought after, rather blessings to discover and enjoy. This is a revelation the saints need to discover and receive by faith. Those who put there faith in Christ are not heading to a victory, but coming from a victory. We need to get a revelation of true works in faith in what Jesus Christ has done for us.

Ephesians 1:3 says - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. The heavenly places is talking about the spiritual realm, real places which are beyond earth's atmosphere. These blessings are talking about who we are in our spirit man. Do you know our spirit man is already complete? By praying and asking God to give us the revelation of these truths, then these blessings will become spiritual realities in our lives. We need to believe and receive these truths in our heart by faith. Do we realize that these spiritual blessings are so awesome to the degree, that often we don't really conceive the full reality of who were are in the spirit? I know it took a while for me to realize who I am in the spirit, but once these truths became reality to me, I am finding it much easier to walk in the spirit, not being controlled by my flesh. I am not telling you I have arrived completely, but I have left the place of destruction, walking in more victory in Christ. I can only encourage you to get into this book of Ephesians, meditate on these scriptures allowing them to get into your heart, so you can experience this freedom also.

Ephesians 1:4-6 says - just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons/daughters by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to His good pleasure of His will. To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. This is so good! To think we were chosen before the world began, that we are holy and blameless, because God see us in Christ. We have been adopted, as His sons and daughters, by His good pleasure of His will, Praise God! We were not chosen and adopted on our merits (works and performance). The truth is we are beneficiaries of the covenant between God the Father and His son Jesus. We weren't personally chosen, but Christ was chosen, and those who are in Christ can partake of His being chosen by His father. Through adoption the believer now has had all ties severed from his old master and have now become the property of His heavenly Father. We are an heir and joint-heirs with Jesus. In our spirit man, Jesus sees us accepted in Him. How awesome is it, that we are just like Jesus! He sees us totally complete, righteous, justified, holy and blameless. Remember John 4:24 says, "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth. Saints, our communication with Christ is always spirit to spirit. That is how He identifies with us through our spirit man. This is Good News! This is the Grace of God in action! The underserved, unmerited, unearned favor of Christ, that He loved us so much, that He chose to bless us with all these spiritual blessings, not based on our goodness or our worth, but His.

Ephesians 1: 7-9 says - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, which He made abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself. Romans 3:24, 25 says - being justified freely in His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. God passed over the sins that were previously committed. Not only has our sins been forgiven, but it is His will to show those, who hearts are soft toward Him, all the mysteries known to man by the divine revelation. These truths are hidden for His children, not from His children. John 14:26 says - it's the Holy Spirit that has been instructed to teach us all things.

Ephesians 1:13 says - In Him you also trusted after you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation; in whom also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. After you hear it and believe it them we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. We need to take full advantage of our access to the father, knowing that we are so blessed in the presence of God. Paul is saying when we know who we are in the spirit; the cares of this world will not affect us. The Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is the pledge, guarantee, promise and assurance that we shall enter into our inheritance will all its benefits.

There is so much revelation in the first three chapters of Ephesians, that it would be impossible for me to break it all down in this one teaching. What Paul was praying is that they would come to experience in their flesh, what is already theirs in their spirit. That these truths would manifest in their lives. He wanted them to receive the revelation of the mystery which he was sharing with them, for a release into the physical of what is already present in our spiritual being. Saints, these revelational truths are for us today.

Another awesome scripture is Ephesians 2:6 says - we are raised up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Raised together and made us sit together is past tense, what God already accomplished in Christ, not off in the future. In heavenly places is not only location, but also position of our authority. The word together, is describing our union with Christ. We need to partake in the authority the throne represents, which is all power and authority given to us though Jesus Christ.

Paul includes two prayers Eph 1:15-23; 3:14-21 in this letter, asking the Lord to grant the readers wisdom. I want to recommend that you look these scripture up and make them part of your daily pray, so to get a true revelation of who you are in the spirit. He invites us to sit down and enjoy all God has done for us in Christ.

Saints! What is our position in Christ? Eph 2:6 - It's seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
