Walking in the Spirit
Can you believe that it is possible to be walking in the spirits all the time, never thinking about your flesh,
or being controlled by it again? Can this be true? How it is possible to "walk in the Spirit, and not fulfill
the lust of the flesh" as Galatians 5:16 reveals in God's word? I find it very hard to believe that God would
put this scripture in His word if it was not possible to walk in the spirit, could you? Can you believe that
it is possible to walk in the spirit, all the time; 24/7? I believe it is possible because I am doing it! Not
perfectly, but I have surely come to a place of doing it more and more everyday, Praise God! You are probably
saying, "Ya right, sure you can!" Or perhaps you are thinking, "I have tried and continually fail, it is just
too hard to walk in the Spirit!" You know the word says, in Proverbs 23:7 "As a man thinks in his heart, so
is he." Wrong thinking produces wrong results! If your thinking does not line up with what God says, your
thoughts will be coming from your old man, the physical realm. It is the flesh that profits nothing, and the
Spirit that gives life. I will tell you that if you are feeling this way, it's because you don't understand
that God only relates to us through our born again spirits, not the flesh. How does He do that? Through His Word!
For years I found it such a struggle to walk in the Spirit, not realizing it was because I was really
trying to walk in the Spirit through my flesh. Galatians 5:17 says "For the flesh lusts against the Spirit,
and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other; so that you cannot do the
things that you would." This tells us that there is always a war going on between the flesh and the Spirit.
The Spirit of God indwells in our born-again spirit. When you read the word, it is important to read it as a
reflection of who you are in the spirit. It's like holding a mirror in front of your face, and you say, "Yep!
That's what I look like alright!" You look into that mirror every morning, and when you walk away from that
mirror, you totally trust what you saw in that mirror is you. That mirror tells you how you hair looks, what
your make-up looks like, and how you look that day. You walk away from that mirror, never doubting or
questioning what that mirror tells you as the truth of who you are. It is also true if you will hold the
bible up in front of you, like a mirror, you can say, "Yep! That's who I am in the spirit!" You can see
yourself everyday in a natural mirror, and trust what you see as being you. It should be just a easy to
take God's Word and put it in your heart, trusting that this is a reflection (a mirror) of who you are
in the spirit. The Word of God is so powerful in the reality of who we are in our spirit man. The Word
in John 4:17 says, "as He is, so are we in this world." How can that be? Because the Word is talking about
God's spirit and our spirit being identical to each other. When you read the bible, make sure you are
reading it with the understanding that God's Word is talking to us as new creations, in our born-again
spirits, not our flesh! If you are trying to read the Word through our five senses, what we hear, taste,
see, smell, and feel, it will profit nothing. We need to live out of a six sense, our brand new righteous
spirit. John 6:63 says "it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing, the words that I speak
to you are spirit, and they are life." This scripture confirms that God is speaking to us spirit to spirit.
It is His truth about who we are in the spirit that gives life.
How many times do we hear God's kids say, "It's too hard to walk in the spirit." That statement is absolutely
true if we are trying to walk in the spirit thru our flesh. The flesh refers to every thought, emotion, desire,
and part of you that isn't under the control of your brand-new, righteous spirit. 1st Corinthians 6:17 says,
"But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." What is true of the Holy Spirit is also true of your
born-again spirit because they are one. When you are born-again, your old man was crucified with Him. 2nd
Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new." When we don't understand that we are a new creation in our
spirit man, not the flesh, it will become difficult to walk in the spirit as God commands us to do. Remember,
Galatians 5:16 says "Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." John 4:24 says,
"God is spirit and those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth." When God sees us, He sees
us in our spirit, and does not relate to us through our flesh at all. The truth is, God doesn't see us as a
mistake waiting to happen, but He sees us completely whole. All our imperfectness He sees no more; Hallelujah!
He only sees us through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! He see us in our born-again
spirit, just as He is righteous, holy, blameless, adopted, chosen, justified, redeemed, causing us to be
raised up together with Him to sit together in heavenly place with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). This is
who we are now! This is what He sees! This is our inheritance that Jesus died such a horrible death for us
to have! Saints, this is what the word says to us about our born-again, righteous spirits. We need to mediate
on these truths, and receive these truths by faith, and walk it out. Don't waste time worrying about all the
mistakes you make. God not looking at that, so why are you? Simply turn away from them, if they're behind
you, you won't be looking at them either. All your mistakes (sin), past, present, and future were (past tense)
put on the cross of Jesus Christ a long time ago. Listen! We all fall short of the glory of God! The truth is,
we can't do it perfectly without Christ. It is through Christ that we have been (past tense) made perfect in
Him. Where? In our born again spirits.
Our thoughts, desires, patterns, and habits that were established in you through the old sinful nature will
begin to diminish as you choose to be dominated by your spirit instead. You can break all of those things
off because in your spirit, you are already free, (past tense). We just need to renew our minds and begin
to see who we are in the Christ manifest. Remember even though you are born again, your old sin nature left
behind a body. This is why we still can feel a drawing toward sin even though you are dead to sin. The truth
is our old man was crucified with Christ, and is dead; yet we still have the effects that we feel through
our physical body and unrenewed mind. We still have the flesh to deal with. How do we conquer the flesh?
By renewing our mind through the Word of God, allowing our Spirits to dominate over our sinful nature.
Saints, the most important revelation I have ever received from God is that He is talking to me through
His word in my brand-new, righteous spirit. Remember you have one nature, but two minds. You only have
one nature, the new one; but you have two different minds, the unrenewed mind, which is the flesh, and
the mind of Christ, which is the spirit. As you renew your natural mind to think like your spirit, you
will experience the life and power of God within you. It will become easy to walk in the Spirit and not
fulfill the lust of the flesh, amen!
WE ARE THE REFLECTION OF HIM!
IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY, IN OUR BORN-AGAIN SPIRITS!
WHEN WE WALK IN THE SPIRIT, WE ARE THE REPRESENTATION OF WHO HE IS TO A LOST AND DYING WORLD!
