"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord" – 2nd Peter 2

What is the True Gospel, verses Another Gospel?

Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who brings glad tiding of good things!

As God sends me out to preach, as God wants to send everyone of us out, I personally want to make sure that my feet are preaching the gospel of peace, bringing glad tidings of good things to God’s people. We always want our feet beautiful before God. I know that God is talking about preaching the “True Gospel”; not Another Gospel, but the “Good News” Gospel! The gospel of grace!

Galatians 1:6-9 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you then what you have received, let him be accursed.

This scripture says that if what you are hearing is troubling you and making you feel condemned, guilty, ashamed, or feeling you have to work for God to accept you, always putting the focus on you, that is not the True Gospel. It is Another Gospel, a perverted gospel, which is not the gospel of peace - bringing glad tidings of good things into your life as Romans 10:15 talks about. Also, Paul repeats it twice, that if you are preaching Another Gospel, let him be accursed. The word accursed means: doom, and destruction. This is destruction to the one preaching Another Gospel, and destruction to the one who sits under such teachings. Another Gospel is Anti-Gospel; it’s against the good news, the gospel of grace. Another gospel puts the burden of salvation on the individual’s back, based on works and performance to obtain salvation. Salvation is about God’s faithfulness, not ours. The good news is—we are worthy to enter His presence at any time as born again believers because of what He had done for us through the cross of Jesus Christ.

Act 20:24 “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

This scripture is talking about the ministry we have received from our Lord, to testify about the grace of God in our lives. The True Gospel offers us what we need — underserved favor — not what we deserve — but as a free gift to all who will receive Him. How can we finish the race with joy unless we know the truth of the gospel of grace? How can we testify about the grace of God in our lives when they are taking the Old Testament Law, putting it thought the cross and saying it is the gospel for today? That is not true, It’s Anti-Gospel; Another Gospel. Paul says very strongly twice, let them be accursed. Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. Matthew 5:17 says, the law was already fulfilled by God.

Yet today, we see the majority of the churches still trying to fulfill the law by putting the burden of salvation and keeping it through works and performance, on God’s children. Romans 2:4 say, "Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing the goodness of God leads you to repentance? Who attempts to be justified by law — they have fallen from grace. Rom 5:1 says, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s the goodness of God that leads to repentance, as it says in Romans 2:4. It says in Galatians 3:13, that we are redeemed from the curse of the law. Ephesians 2:8 it says, for by Grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a free gift, not works, lest anyone should boast.

The truth is, the grace of God is the power of the gospel. The Law does not give you power, but defeat. 1st Corinthians 15:56 says the sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the Law. The law strengthens sin in its battle against us. If you are preaching the Law, not understanding what the real purpose of the Law was, you will be telling the saints that by keeping the Law, it will straighten out there lives & make them more holy. But in fact, it will only cause them to go further away from God and make them sin even more. They will be focusing on themselves instead of getting the true revelation of justification, which is through Christ alone.

What was the purpose of the Law? The purpose of the Law is to shut our mouths — it takes away all our excuses and comparisons, gives us a knowledge of sin, and makes us guilty before God (Rom 3:19). The law was never given for the purpose of justification (Rom 3:12). The Law wasn’t given to produce salvation or the forgiveness of sins. If we are under the Law, sin has dominion over us (Rom 6:14). James 2:10 says "for whoever shall keep the whole law, yet stumbles in one point, he is guilty of all". The Law was given to condemn us—to kill us (2 Cor 3:6, 9). Either we are perfect or we need a Savior.

Galatians 3:19, 23-26 what purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgression till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

It says here that the law was added till Jesus (the Seed) should come. That tells us that it wasn’t God’s first choice to bring in the law, that it was added. Why was it added? Because they were so wicked, and were justifying what was wrong and thinking it is was right. God had to make them aware, having a knowledge of there sin, to condemn them, to shut there mouths, that they could not fix themselves, but needed a tutor to lead them to Christ.

But once the Seed (Jesus) came, Hallelujah! When faith came, in other words "our faith in what Jesus did for us", we are no longer under the Law, the tutor. What Jesus did independent of us by Grace allowed us to receive salvation, (a free gift from God). We are justified by faith in Jesus though cross. Heb 8:12, 13 says, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. In that He says, "a new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. This tells us that as born again Christians, our sins He will remember no more. The law is obsolete, it has vanished away; we are now under the True Gospel, the Gospel of Grace.

What is going to make a person want to walk holy before God? It’s teaching them the goodness of God; and the revelation of His love for them; Jesus Christ's righteous act, resulting in justification of life. It is — Love that never fails — not works. If you want to work for it, you can’t have what Jesus died to give you, because it is free, the debt was already paid in full. Praise God! THE TRUE GOSPEL! GRACE BEING THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION! THE GOOD NEWS GOSPEL! Those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things, God’s goodness, will have beautiful feet before God and man.
