Truth about Healing
I was sitting in a church service, and after the Pastor finished preaching, he called people up to the front if they needed healing in their bodies. As people approached the front of the church for prayer, the preacher said, "you will be healed if God chooses to, otherwise you wouldn't". I have to be honest with you; I was so upset that this Pastor was representing our Lord and Savior, our God who is love, misrepresenting who He really is. What a terrible injustice to the shed blood of our Savior and the cross of Calvary. The truth is, He is a God of love, mercy, and compassion; not sickness, disease and dying. Matthew 14:14 says when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. Saints, He is still moved with compassion today toward our infirmities. If we believe that God is the author of sickness and disease, then why go to a doctor to get well, isn't that going against Gods' will then? John 10:10 says, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. Jeremiah 30:17 says, For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds says the Lord. 3rd John 2 says, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. This scripture tells us Gods' desire is to prosper us in everything, and be in total health. In the gospels, Jesus healed everyone who came to Him for healing. It isn't God's will for any of us to be sick nor does He inflict sickness on anyone. It is His desire for us to walk in divine health. It is part of our covenant right to receive total healing in every area of our lives, walking in the victory He won for us at Calvary, Praise God!
Let's talk about the Old Testament where God promised if the Israelites kept the Law of Moses, He would take their sickness, and not allow diseases upon them. God also said that if they didn't keep the Law, curses would come on them, in Deuteronomy 28:15, 59-61, The fact is the curses did come upon them, which was sickness, disease, and plague. The Good News is!-- When Jesus died on the cross for us, He took all those curses away. Galatians 3:13 says, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"). Notice that Christ became the curse on that tree, in our behalf. He took all those curses away. Remember Saints, we are no longer under the Old Covenant, but under the New Covenant. Does this mean we can never be cursed again? Absolutely! One thing I always hear and see the Saints doing is praying curses off people who have given there lives to Christ. Why are we doing that, when Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law? Also, it is so important to remember that we are no longer under the Law but Grace. What is God's grace? It is unmerited, unearned and undeserved favor, in our lives 24/7. He wants us healed not because we deserve it, but because it was His choice to do it. Even though we still fall short of the glory of God, we can still receive healing every time, by faith.
Acts 10:38 says, "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. When you read this scripture you will recognize, as Paul did, that it was the devil who oppressed every one of those people with sickness, not God. God was very much aware that sickness is never a blessing. Ephesians 1:3 says, blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has (past tense) blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Everything the cross represents is ours today, which includes healing, restoration, and wholeness for every part of our minds, souls, and bodies. We just need to believe God's word and appropriate it by faith. God was never sick. Jesus was never sick. When Jesus ministered on this earth, He treated sickness as an enemy. Jesus never refused to heal anyone, whatever their sickness and whatever the cause. He would never refuse healing for us today either.
1st John 3:8 says He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Jesus came to destroy the devils' works and one aspect of accomplishing that was to heal the sick. Ultimately, just as He dealt with sin once and for all, Jesus also dealt with sickness, disease and infirmity once and for all at the cross.
We know that Satan is a liar, the father of all lies. So I want to expose the lie that - God put sickness on you to teach you something. In 2nd Timothy 3:16 is says, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. Listen! God doesn't have to put sickness on someone to show them something. He may show you something through your sickness, but He is never the author of the sickness; Satan is. It says here in this scripture that all correction comes from Gods' word. The bible is our correction book, along with the Holy Spirit who is our teacher, nothing else.
Also, Satan keeps the body of Christ bound with this lie, by telling us that, "Well, it's true that God did all these things for you, but now you have to work to be approved, in order to receive all these spiritual blessings He has for you". Listen, Saints, once you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord, you are already accepted. Its not works and performance, but freely receiving by faith what He accomplished for us on the cross. If you are dependent on your goodness or performance to get healing from God it will never happen. Because it isn't about what you do, but what has already been done through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf, that will bring healing in our lives.
If God has healed everyone on the cross, we shouldn't pray "if it be thy will, Lord please heal me." It is always God's will to heal, just as it is always His will to forgive everyone's sins.
Our beliefs about healing must be right. We must be "absolutely persuaded" (have faith) that God always heals. Intellectual assent is not sufficient! Heart belief is needed. Our faith must not be negated by unbelief. It is possible to have both faith and unbelief present at the same time, which will stop a manifestation of healing. In Matthew 17:21 it says that this kind (unbelief) does not go out except by prayer and fasting. Unbelief can enter because of wrong teaching, ignorance, or information that is contrary to the Word of God. It doesn't line up with God's word to believe that sometimes God heals and sometimes He doesn't.
If we are not receiving healing today, it's not because God has not healed you, but because the truth of God's word about healing is not revealed in our hearts to believe and receive.
God wants you well!
