Religious Heresy

This is a touchy subject, but like many other subjects it needs to be addressed. I believe God wants our eyes and hearts open to understand and discern the truths in His word, not man's interpretation of His word. What does the word, "Heresy" mean? In Webster's Dictionary it says that, "Heresy" is a religious belief opposed to the orthodox doctrines of God. Any opinions opposed to official or established view. What does "orthodox doctrines" mean? The Webster's Dictionary says that, "orthodox doctrines means conforming to the usual beliefs or established doctrine, as in religion. So to sum up the definition of, "Religious Heresy" I think I can rightfully say it is a religious practice which is opposing the established doctrine of God and His truths. It is also wrong beliefs or misunderstanding God and His written word. I will tell you one thing! The religious heresies that are being preached and practiced in the body of Christ today are not only paralyzing God's children from fulfilling God's plans and purposes for there lives; it keeps them focused on self. It is luring God's people into another Gospel, which Paul warned against in Galatians 1: 1-9. It says people that are "preaching another Gospel, a different gospel, let them be accursed." It is in fact putting a curse on the saints that are sitting under it also. It brings deception so that we don't even see God's love, mercy and grace, and the awesome inheritance that was bought for us on the cross of Calvary. What Calvary did is a finished work, not an incomplete work. So we don't have to do the rest to make it complete. Religious heresy is not and never was God's plan to further the gospel in the world. This is the devil's assignment, to keep God's people defeated and bound, and he is using wolves in sheep's clothing to help him out. This is a hard word, but needs to be exposed for what it is; it is deception. Colossians 2:8, 20, 23 says "beware lest anyone cheat (spoil) you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulation-Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle (false doctrine), which all concern things which perish with the using-according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh." Hebrews 13:9 "do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace. Not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them." Matthew 15:6b-9 "thus you have made the commandments of God of no effect by your tradition. "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you saying: These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men." People teaching this are causing you to roam from safety, truth or virtue to go astray, and are seducing God's children from the truth of God's word.

Let's list some examples of religious heresies that are being taught today. You have preachers trying to scare people into submission by using the Old Testament Law and mixing it with the New Testament Gospel of grace. If you go back and read Hebrews 13:9 again, you will see that it says it is good that the heart be established by grace. You know, you can't mix oil and water, because they don't mix. Neither can you mix the Old Testament with the New Testament and expect it to work. What they are doing is mixing Law and Grace. Remember the Old Testament was types and shadows of things to come. We cannot hold on to a shadow, we need to hold on the One who cast the shadow, and His name is Jesus Christ! I have sat under preaching where they were using the Old Testament law, and it was no doubt making us feel beat down, unworthy and condemned. After the service I heard someone say, "Boy! That surely convicted them today!" Should this be happening when the word says, in Romans 8:1 says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Isn't that strange they think they can preach condemnation to you when God says there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus? That is religious heresy! You know the Old Testament is great for gleaning from there experiences, but I don't know about you, I do not want to hold on to a shadow. I want to hold on to the real thing, which is Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Other examples of practiced religious heresies; I am sure we have either experienced or heard many of these before:
  • Now that you are saved you have to work and earn God's acceptance. Ephesians 1:4 says, "to the praise of His grace, by which He has (past tense) made us accepted in the beloved." Romans 3:20 - "Therefore by the deeds of the law (works) no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law (works) is the knowledge of sin." This says that we are already accepted, and that no flesh, no works will be justified in His sight.

  • They say God doesn't heal everyone. If you read through the gospels you can not find one person who came to Jesus that He didn't heal. Matthew 4:23 - "And Jesus went about all Galilee teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people."

  • That God puts sickness on you to teach you something. God would no more put sickness on you, than He would put sin on you! 2nd Timothy 3:16 - "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." It says here that God uses His word for correction, Amen! If you make wrong choices, you can certainly get yourself into a mess, and God can work through it to teach you something, but He is never the author of it, Amen!

  • That you better watch out if God gets angry with you! Isaiah 54:9 - For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn that I would not be angry with you nor rebuke you. The truth is, God is not angry with believers or non-believers any more, Thank-you Jesus!

  • That God separates from us when we sin because He can't be around sinners. First off, who else is He going to be around? Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Hebrews 13:5b For He himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Way back in Genesis it talks about God removing Adam and Eve from the Garden. This was because He did not want them to eat from the tree of life and live forever in there fallen state Genesis 22:22. The only thing that they noticed was that they were naked. God never told them what their choice did to all of mankind. And if you read further in Genesis 3:21 you will see that God was talking with them and even made tunics of skin for them. That does not sound like God leaving someone who has sinned or made wrong choices? God's Son died for the sinner, He loves the sinner. Why would God put His son on the cross to suffer such a terrible death, and turn around and leave us? Wouldn't He have died in vain then? The reason for taking Adam and Eve out of the garden was so he could redeem us back into right relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. That's God's unconditional love and grace, Hallelujah!

  • You have to read your bible, pray and hour a day, tithe, and be to church on time in order to be approved by God. I have already stated what Romans 3:20 says, no works or flesh will be justified in His sight. Also, Ephesians 1:6 says we are already accepted, you read that earlier in this teaching. It doesn't say we have already been accepted when we do all these things, when we get it all together. Listen, if we could have got it all together we would not need a Savior! The truth is if you never read your bible, attended church, tithed, or prayed etc, He would still love you and His heart would never change towards you. Yes, it is beneficial and smart to do these things; not because it changes God's heart towards us, but because it changes our hearts toward Him, and how we receive from Him.

  • They have alter calls every week so you can repent for sin that has already been forgiven, as though it would appease God for one more week. Luke 2:14 says "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill towards men. The angels were rejoicing because the war between God and man was over. Our sins have been atoned for past, present and future. How? God placed all of them on His Son, Jesus, on the cross!

  • They preach that we are still sinners, when the word says in Romans 5: 17b much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One Jesus Christ. We have received His righteousness, His justification, His abundance of grace. Jesus does not see us as sinner, but righteous.

  • They say we are cursed with a curse if we don't tithe. Galatians 2:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree." that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Sadly to say the list goes on and on, and I want to expose this devil's workshop, Amen!
